Interview with Ebola of Cryfemal 2007
By Bradley Smith
Your new album Apoteosis Oculta has been released. It is a very violent and
dark album. Plus I understand for you it is a very personal album. How do you
see the album now that it is finished and what makes it so personal for you?
Yes, “Apoteosis Oculta” is my best work. I did everything, the guitar, bass, drum and screams, the recording session and mastering. Lyrics.
I was working many times for “him.”
You got a real drummer for this album. How did you manage to solve your problems with lack of money and such to get a drummer? How do you think this enhances the sound of Cryfemal?
Fuck!! Very difficult and expensive, yes. I think that Cryfemal is a competitive and exclusive band now. All has been better.
Death seems to be a prevalent theme for you. What do you think will happen to you when you die? What makes death such a fascinating subject?
Hum. Cryfemal is dead metal.
It may take several things, or I could be reincarnated, here or in another world, or I could be left floating as energy, or just having empty as before birth or, I will go to hell. This is very difficult to know now.
Death is our future, it's important!!
Cemeteries are an inspiring and atmospheric location. What about them helps you realize your visions for Cryfemal and what within them do you contemplate on? Does the fact that so much sorrow and mourning occurs within them make them appealing to you?
Yeah, the cemeteries are my real home. There, I embrace the death, and Cryfemal plays with this feeling.
Spain is sort of a hidden area for Black Metal. Why do you think there are so few bands that manage to come out of there? Do you think Cryfemal will change that view? Are there any bands you think are worthy from Spain?
Yes, more or less. We have many UG bands as Atman, Amnion, Berserk, Nazgul, Primigenium, Argar, Akerbeltz, Mortinatum, Dantalion, Empty, Grim Funeral, Foscor, Godüs, Beheaded Lamb, Dark Faith, Grimuak, Xerion, Aboriorth, Daemonlord, Nakkiga, Blazemth, Shemhamphorash, Occult Corpse and many more.
I don't know why so few bands that manage to come out of here,
hehehe.
Having went to Spain for my summer travelling I noticed that Spain is very liberal in its views on individuality. But in many respects it appears very extreme, like in how it views and celebrates death and also the way people treat Xtianity. Do you view Spain as extreme in regards to other European nations and as an insider what are some aspects of Spanish Culture that you like and some that you despise?
Yes. Spain is a “catholic” country and with many old traditions and languages.
In Spain I appreciate his woman, the easy cocaine and the drinks.
I hate everything else.
Opposing Xtianity is central to the philosophy of black metal. How do you oppose Xtianity within the confines of black metal art? Do you have any other ways that you oppose the white light r eligions?
With some anti-christian activities. But it will lower slowly by its own weight...
When I have asked others about you they have said that you are “Dedicated to your art.” How do you exhibit your dedication and what in general does it mean to be dedicated to one’s art? Do you think there is a lack of artistic dedication within the black metal scene?
I have 75% of Black metal in my life, I don't think I can do more.
Do
you think that Satan takes an active role in helping you create your black metal
art? Do you foresee the end for humanity coming? How will it happen and will
it be religious in nature or will it be man’s own fault?
No, I think in the death, Satanas sucks. I think in the true darkness, the death and the cemeteries.
You take a lot of Obscure and morbid pictures for your albums. How does this play into the Black metal Aesthetic? What sort of effect do you want your visual images to have on the listeners of Cryfemal?
It is only my true Black metal devotion.
What are your future plans for Cryfemal? New material or releases planned?
I'm working on “Apoteosis Oculta” promotion, on the new Vinyl version by Warfront Prod, on new t-shirts and something more. I'm working on the new material too.
Last words?
Hey Brad, I'm sorry for my short answers. I don't have much time!! Thanks for your interest in Cryfemal. Hail to the Nocturnal Cult readers!!
