Ravens Creed

Nestles And Wild
Doomentia
2011

Destructive UK thrashers, Ravens Creed caught the attention of Fenriz for his band of the week with this 7" and it's easy to see why.  Crunchy riffs and corrosive vocals hammer you as Stampede Of Skeletons lets loose its deadly fury upon your ears.  They rip into a totally brutal section of shredding riffs right after a vocal break that brings to mind Venom's "lay down your soul...".  Break The Lord gallops forth with its pacing and pulsing riffs.  The song brings to mind a thrashy version of Bolthrower, mainly because the riffs are so heavy and rhythmic.  A certain, Discharge/punk aura permeates the crushing, raw riffs of Shoot The Wounded.   Picking up the pace somewhat and spewing forth unrivalled bile is the final track on the 7", The Wires Will Kill You.  It has a sense of early hardcore aggression within the lightning fast riffs, yet there is also a traditional thrash feel to the song, probably because of the actual songwriting.  Within the riff structures I hear echoes of some of thrash's most violent proponents, Dark Angel, Exodus and others.  However the actual delivery is far rawer and punkier.  Ravens Creed has won me over with Nestless and Wild which serves notice that UK thrash is not dead, but is still a savagely violent affair.  Your ears have been warned!
